"This Is Cruel And Cult-Like In America": Individuals discuss issues that Americans are unaware only occur in the United States.
America has some issues, many of which are exclusive to the country, as I am sure many other Americans are aware. Redditor u/GoddessMelrosse recently invited Reddit users to share "very American" issues that are not common in other nations. Some of these issues may surprise you:
1. "Taking a vacation. In America, two weeks off seems like a long time. It appears that people in other nations can take a month off without any problems.
2. "Entry-level job drug tests."
3. "That you may be fired without cause or prior notice. Without even giving you time to find another employment, you could be fired from the company you have worked for years. In addition to losing your work, you also forfeit your benefits. In essence, you are not safe and you have no rights. Severance packages appear to be reserved for the wealthy here.
4. "Debt from school lunches. In a rational nation, we would simply respond, "Well, it is not that much to feed every child." Let us just eliminate any means testing and make it available to everyone who requests it. However, it goes without saying that we are extremely worried about the poor receiving the merest assistance that they "do not deserve," while we dismiss the massive subsidies given to the wealthy as normal and inevitable."
5. "A jail system that is run for profit. People are sentenced to 20 years in prison for marijuana usage, and it is not because it is "bad."
